Blogging is an art of engaging people to your creativity or the information provided. The first step in deciding a blog is to choose the content and topic that it will be based.
I have seen so many potential blogs go to ruin just because of them not following a schedule or path for their blog.
All of us have to remember that blogging has to be dedicated to and we have to ensure that the reader is getting what they came for.
Darren Rouse the author of Problogger has given a very good quote on success,
There are no magic wands, no hidden tricks, and no secret handshakes that can bring you immediate success, but with time, energy, and determination you can get there.
So, I am going to introduce a little bit about blogging and then move on to help in choosing a good name for your blog.
What is Blogging?
The word ‘Blog’ stands as an abbreviation of the term ‘weblog’. A blog contains a whole lot of information that is provided in a chronological order and you can view the newest posts on the home page.
An archive or older post page is present where you can access the other articles. The articles often look like diary entries as they contain the date and time the author published the post.
A blog can hail from any topic that an author wants it to, there are blogs on fashion, finance, politics, news, motherhood etc. The author can choose it to be for a single topic or multiple topics at a time.
On a blog, your reader is able to display their view by the help of leaving comments which is a great feature. It is one of my favorite features as it leads to an interaction and also lets me know their appreciation.
Blogs can also be easily used by companies to convey their message and products to a consumer base. This is often very fruitful as it pulls customers towards the enumeration on a product that they are likely to use.
The blogger and professor Michael Conniff has a very interesting quote on defining blogs,
Blogs are whatever we make them. Defining ‘Blog’ is a fool’s errand.
We must admit that we have toiled through the idea of giving birth to a blog. But we often get agitated with the blog name and the domain name that we should provide.
Often we end up using our email account name but doesn’t garner as many views as a catchy name must sound.
So amongst all the brainstorming, I have presented you with some tips that can help you to come up with a blog name.
Tips on coming up with blog names:
1. Go with your topic or niche
You must have thought of a topic for your blog and if you haven’t it is high time to do so.
The niche that you choose can be a part of the name of your blog. This becomes easy for you as a creator and also helps you in coming up with something that isn’t far away from the content of your blog. Your ideas for life can help to come up with a name.
For example, if you want to great a blog with fashion as the main topic then a name like ‘fashionhub’ can be appropriate as it describes the content of your blog perfectly.
It is also good as your personal ideas give your blog a personal touch. If you are a part of a business then the business name can be a good name for a blog.
2. Come up with a unique name
Uniqueness will always speak through your blog. If you are from the creative field then you know how much it is desirable when your content is original and unique.
So, when you are coming up with a blog you can incorporate personal details and unique things about yourself in the name.
Things about your life will always entice people and make them come back to your blog.
For example, if you have blue eyes then you can include ‘theblueeyedvegan’ in your vegan blog. This can also become a brand if you want to sell your vegan materials.
3. Random Blog Names Generator
This can be the easiest way around to come up with blog name if you are a beginner. There are several sites where you can feed them with random words that go with your topic and it gives you a name. You can either use the name of getting an idea from it.
For example, you can give words like fashion, news, democratic, vegan into the generator and they will come up with several unique names list that you can choose from.
4. Add some humor
If you aren’t building a blog that is very business-like then you can add a little bit of humor to it.
It has been proven that blogs that have a unique name are easy to remember and people love to interact with it.
For example, if you are a fan of food and your blog deals with then a name like ‘thehungrywitch’ will bring laughter as well as encourage people to visit your blog.
You will often see these quirky names in the micro-blogging site of Tumblr and they have hundreds of followers.
At least try to make a list of names and show it to your friends to get their views on the names that you have written down. Do keep your target audience in mind, if they are children or ladies you can go with cute names that are simple and crisp.
Try to keep the names short and simple as it is easy to remember for the viewers. Also as your blog name is a brand, try to get a domain name that is exactly the same as your blog. It will help in familiarity with the people.
At last do not overdo things, a great quote by Crystal Paine from the blog Moneysavingmom.com explain it,
Burning the candle at both ends doesn’t give you superpowers, it just makes you exhausted.
I would like to say that these tips can be handy to you and some of my friends have got really good results from them and they say the names are best names ever.
All you have to do it be creative and be patient to handle the process of you naming a blog.
Your wishes will come true once you have a successful blog and you can include yourself into it.
