3. Registering a Company: Register a company in the U.S. and obtain its address and Employer Identification Number (EIN). For non-U.S. residents, consider registering in states like Wyoming or Delaware due to favorable tax policies. Wyoming, for instance, does not impose a corporate income tax.
   To register a U.S. company, use services like Doola or Firstbase to obtain an EIN. Additionally, non-U.S. citizens need to apply for an ITIN instead of an SSN. There are two ways to apply for an ITIN:

   • DIY Application: Fill out the necessary forms and mail your original passport to the U.S. IRS. The IRS will return the passport by regular mail, which carries a risk of loss.

   • CAA Agent: Find a CAA agent on platforms like Fiverr by searching for "ITIN CAA." Choose an agent with high ratings for assistance.

Note: The ITIN application process is lengthy, typically taking 7 to 12 weeks. Plan and apply early if you intend to register a U.S. local store.

For U.S. citizens, the process is much simpler, requiring only a U.S. passport or driver's license and an SSN. Non-U.S. citizens must register a U.S. company and apply for an ITIN, which is more time-consuming.

Once all materials are prepared, you can start the formal application for a U.S. local store in an independent U.S. IP browser. Enter your U.S. mobile number, email address, and chosen account password, then proceed to the next step.

• Individual Registration: If using a U.S. passport and SSN, select "individual" for your identity.

• Corporate Registration: If using a U.S. company, select "corporation" and fill in the company name and EIN. Choose "NO" for UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) unless applicable.

Fill in the company representative's details, including name, birthdate, and address, along with the SSN or ITIN mentioned earlier.

Select "No" for subcontractor options and submit. 

This will take you to the TikTok U.S. local store backend, where you'll see a notification about your materials being reviewed. Click "re-verify" to view the email instructions for correct submission of materials.

After verifying your documents, you'll need to submit tax information. Once everything is verified, you can begin operating your store.

U.S. stores differ slightly from those in the UK or Southeast Asia, mainly in terms of available features. For beginners, the process can be challenging, especially regarding U.S. company requirements like obtaining an ITIN and fulfilling local shipping requirements. It's important to consider these challenges and proceed based on your ability.
